As we get closer to my all time favorite month of October, I naturally start to gravitate towards beer-centric recipes. I guess it has something to do with Oktoberfest, that or there tends to be more pumpkin spice beers readily available, and those are super fun to play with in the kitchen.

Hot & Sour Soup

I’ve gotten to where I make veggie sushi about once a week, or at least once every couple of weeks. This Hot & Sour Soup is an easy and delicious side to pair with the sushi. It’s super quick and easy to make all in one pot and it tastes even better than the one you order with take out. What’s even better is that you get to have control over just how hot or sour your soup is in the end.

I have seen a little difference in hot and soup soup out there. This one, to me, is more of a mixture between egg drop and hot and sour. I’m totally fine with that. I love egg drop soup as much as I do hot and sour. But, it is worth noting that you do DROP EGGS into this soup. It can be a scary thought, but I promise it’s easy peasy!…

Since my brother has been living with me we’ve had the amazing opportunity to totally geek out about food. While he was off on his own in the wilds of Colorado he fell in love with cooking. Mostly out of necessity since the small town where he was had limited places to eat that weren’t fast food. Some of the nearest restaurants that were edible were an hour or further away. Vegetarian Sushi

So… I don’t like sea food. That is why you will never see any sea food recipes around here. No, I’m not allergic to it, I just don’t like it. It’s not a taste thing or a texture thing. It is flat out just that I don’t like sea food. BUT. I do like sushi. I love vegetarian sushi.

Cinnamon Toast Crunch Banana Bread

This banana bread is jazzed up with cinnamon and sugar and topped off with a crispy crunchy crumb that is out of this world delicious - if I do say so myself. The idea for this banana bread is actually based on the cinnamon toast cereal that we all know and love. I’ve had a box stocked away in my pantry for some time now since my daughter suddenly decided after a week of eating it that she now doesn’t like it.

So, what do you do to use up cereal? You use it in a crumb topping for banana bread, of course! And let me just say, this banana bread is the perfect combination of the two. A tasty banana bread and cinnamon cereal all in one bite together. The best of both worlds!…
