If you’re looking to spice up your breakfast routine, look no further! This delightful dish combines the creamy richness of labneh, the zesty kick of harissa, and the silken elegance of poached eggs. It’s like a symphony of flavors that works beautifully together while staying on the healthy side of the spectrum.
What is Labneh?
Labneh is a tangy, creamy cheese made from strained yogurt, popular in Middle Eastern cuisine. It’s not only delicious but also loaded with probiotics, making it a gut-friendly ingredient. Its delightful thickness and slight tartness make it a superb base for this dish. In addition, it can easily be made at home by straining plain Greek yogurt through cheesecloth – a fun kitchen experiment for anyone looking to impress friends at brunch!
The Magic of Harissa
Now, let’s talk about harissa. This fiery chili paste brings depth and complexity to the table. Made from roasted red peppers, hot chili peppers, garlic, and spices, harissa adds a perfect punch to the creamy labneh and poached eggs. It’s versatile, too – use it in marinades, dips, or even drizzled on roasted veggies. Just be cautious with how much you use if you’re sensitive to spice; a little goes a long way!
