Every month or so there must be a ‘wine and cheese’ night at my house. What does that mean? Well, that means we sendup having wine and cheese for dinner. Charcuterie boards are a lot of fun to play around with, especially around the holidays. That’s mostly because you get the chance to try wines and cheeses that you otherwise wouldn’t.

Take this Halloween Cheese Board for instance. I made it this past weeks mission to go out and seek cheeses that were ‘spooky’ and on theme with Halloween. I think one of my favorites that I found was this port infused cheese that gave it this really pretty marbled purple look!…

It's summer and it's hot. Like real hot here in Texas. The sort of heat that will take your breath away when you step outside. There isn't a whole lot you can do to stay cool outside of water, fans, and some nice cold fruit either. One of my favorite summer fruits has to be grapefruit! It's refreshing and bright and perfect to help beat the summer heat.

Another summer favorite of mine is sparkling wine; namely brute rosé! I love that it's crisp and refreshing. Outside of drinking it, I like to come up with fun recipes and ideas to use wine and sparkling wines in recipes; giving me many different ways (other than drinking it) to enjoy an opened bottle repeatedly!...

Want a little cheese to go with that wine? Why, yes I do! I'll take some bruschetta as well. And maybe a full on antipasti plate while you're at it.

It's been all too long since I posted much to pair with wine. One of my favorites from a while back was the Anatomy of a Cheese Plate, which gives a good break down of what all you could have available for a wine tasting or wine enthusiast sort of party. We live in an age of wine, people! My generation is said to drink nearly half of all the wine in the United States. That's a lot of wine for one generation. I guess we were all just raised right.

My inspiration for my antipasti tonight came from one of my dear grade-school friends over at Sweet Hersey Living. Her food and recipes always leave me drooling. She's truly one of the most creative people that I've ever known...

We all know that summer is all about cook outs and block parties. Of course, here in Texas, we have to get out there early in the day or wait until the sun is starting to set to have a more enjoyable temperature. That being said, I know that when I'm entertaining it's all about simple meals with bold flavors and a nice cool glass of wine to pair!

One of my favorite quotes of all times has to be, "I enjoy cooking with wine, sometimes I even put it in the food...", and today this was my mantra! I decided that in the midst of my entertaining, I would create a lightened up white wine cream sauce to pair with some lemon pepper chicken that was cooked up in the crock pot. Hey, the oven is my enemy right now when it's 100+ degrees outside...

When I think of summer, I often think of the thrills and fun things that go along with being a kid again without really being a kid again. So, to savor the summer I decided to take one of my old childhood favorites and make into something meant for a more adult crowd.

Enter these adult pigs-in-a-blanket! I've taken a spicy cajun style sausage and baked in the center of crescent roll 'blankets', and paired it all with a red wine-mustard sauce for a perfectly disable bite that's sure to impress!...

So, last week I had posted a picture of this fabulous little lunch/snack that I had for myself, and seeing as it managed to grab quite a bit of attention I thought I would do something else similar this week. Though I still might share the original soon too!

Grapefruit is very much so in season here in Texas right now, and as such, I wanted to make full use of it since it's one of my most favorite circus fruits. I find that it's a perfect addition to any breakfast or lunch because of it's brightness. It just adds a little bit of a pep to my step and cheers me on through my day...
