BBQ Chicken Dip

Like I said, I’m busting out the game day recipes as we roll into football season this year. We’ve got to make up for missing out on game day spreads for a year now! And this BBQ Chicken Dip is sure to be a real crowd pleaser. Shredded chicken, bbq sauce, and cheese make up this delicious and easy to make dip. Really, it doesn’t get more easy to make than this dip right here.

One of my favorite parts about this dip though is that it will vary and change entirely depending on what kind of BBQ sauce you use in it. Like something spicy? Use a spicy sauce? Maybe you’re a sweet heat fan? Give that one a try! The point is, you get to make it your own with your favorite.

This dip goes great when paired with tortilla chips or fresh veggies. I had some celery waiting in the wings and that’s what I used for the most part. Either way and no matter what you scoop and enjoy it with, this dip is perfect as a side or for tailgating.

I used some chicken that I cooked up in the instant pot, but you can use whatever chicken you want - even rotisserie!

A delicious warm dip that's based on BBQ chicken. Perfect as a hot appetizer or part of a game day spread!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 C. Chopped Red Onion
  • 8 Oz. Neufchâtel Cream Cheese
  • 6 Oz. Plain Fat Free Greek Yogurt
  • 1/2 Tsp. Seasoning
  • 1 1/2 C. Cooked & Shredded Chicken
  • 3/4 C. BBQ Sauce
  • 1 C. Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • 1/4 C. Light Mayonnaise
  • 1/4 C. Chopped Fresh Cilantro

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Place the onion into a small skillet and cook over a medium-high heat until tender and translucent.
  3. Stir together the 8 Oz. cream cheese, 6 Oz. greek yogurt, 1/2 Tsp. seasoning, 1 1/2 C. chicken, 1/2 C. BBQ sauce, 3/4 C. cheddar, 1/4 C. mayo, the cooked red onion, and 1/4 C. cilantro.
  4. Transfer the dip to a baking dish; top with the remaining 1/4 C. BBQ sauce and the 1/4 C. shredded cheese.
  5. Cover with foil and bake for 20-25 minutes.
  6. Once done, remove from the oven and garnish with more fresh cilantro and serve with chips, fresh veggies, or crackers!
